GCP Senior Platform Engineer

Why this role matters

Our Data Engineering teams are building our next generation Data platforms and are our main contributors to materialise our client Digital strategy.
This role ensures that our client data flows into our Analytics platforms and they are available for exploitation of our Global Division.
You will be working in a very creative environment where you will contribute to the design and building of our new GCP Data platform infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing

Work closely with our internal teams of Solutions Architects, Data Designers, Source System Experts and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into a technical implementation and design documentation and write code to build our Data platform.
Recommending the correct technologies to be used and in the most cost effective manner.
Designing, sizing, building, testing and deploying GCP infrastructure using Terraform
Work in an SecDevOps environment.
Coaching and mentoring other Platform Engineers.
Assisting Platform Engineering manager by being DOA, suggesting proactively improvements, contributing to unblock possible issues.
The skills & experience you need 5 Key skills identified as:
Experience with analytic warehouse solutions, data movement from data stores into analytic warehouses, and with performance/scalability improvements.
Hands on and deep experience working with Google Data Products (e.g. BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, AI Building Blocks, Looker, Cloud Data Fusion, Dataprep, etc.) and Terraform.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL modern data stores.
Solid Python programming skills. Java / other languages beneficial.
Streaming experience ( e.g. Kafka)
Other skills beneficial for the role are:
Proactively helping others and bringing people with you towards supporting our strategy.
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Experience with Big Data, PaaS, and IaaS technologies.
Experience with streaming data (e.g. Kafka).
HashiCorp Terraform associate.
Experience using version control and CD/CI tools (e.g GITLAB, Jenkins, et al.)
Official Google Professional Data Engineer or professional Cloud Architect Certification
Experience writing and deploying Terraform scripts
Communicate complex ideas effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Knowledge and experience of using Agile.
